Blackmer Pumps
Blackmer sliding vane pumps are a mainstay on fuel and chemical transport trailers because they self-prime, run dry without damage, and hold a steady flow rate even as viscosity changes. Littlejohn stocks Blackmer's TXD fuel transfer pumps and STX-DEF stainless steel pumps at all six of our distribution warehouses, ready to ship the same day you order.

How Blackmer Sliding Vane Pump Technology Works
A Blackmer sliding vane pump uses a rotor fitted with vanes that slide in and out as the rotor turns. On the intake side, the vanes pull liquid into the pumping chamber; as the rotor continues to spin, the vanes physically push that liquid toward the outlet port and discharge it under pressure. Because the vanes maintain constant contact with the pump casing, the design self-compensates for wear, which is why Blackmer pumps hold consistent flow rates over a long service life and resist cavitation better than centrifugal alternatives.
Blackmer TXD Sliding Vane Pumps for Fuel Transport
The Blackmer TXD Series is built for fast, quiet transfer of refined fuels on trucks and trailers. These pumps are equipped with FKM O-rings and Blackmer mechanical seals, making them compatible with biodiesel and ethanol blends, and are available with an adjustable relief valve to protect the pump from excessive pressure. TXD pumps are commonly used to transfer:
- Diesel and Gasoline
- Kerosene and fuel oil
- Jet fuel and avgas
- LP gas
- Light lube oils
Littlejohn stocks the following TXD models:
Blackmer STX-DEF Stainless Steel Pumps for DEF Transfer
For Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF/AUS32), Littlejohn stocks Blackmer's STX-DEF Series. These pumps are machined from 316 stainless steel and built with non-metallic Duravanes, PTFE elastomers, and Blackmer chemical mechanical seals so they meet DEF's strict material-compatibility requirements. Like the TXD line, STX-DEF pumps can run dry for short periods to self-prime or blow down lines without damaging the pump, and internal wear is limited almost entirely to the vanes, which can be replaced with ordinary hand tools.

Blackmer Pump FAQs
What fluids can a Blackmer TXD pump handle?
TXD pumps are designed for refined fuels, including diesel, gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel, avgas, LP gas, and light lube oils, and are compatible with biodiesel and ethanol blends.
What's the difference between the TXD and STX-DEF Series?
TXD pumps are built for fuel transfer, while STX-DEF pumps are made from 316 stainless steel with PTFE elastomers specifically to meet the material-compatibility standards required for DEF (AUS32) transport.
Can Blackmer sliding vane pumps run dry?
Yes. Blackmer's non-metallic vanes self-compensate for wear, allowing both the TXD and STX-DEF Series to run dry for short periods during self-priming or line blow-down without damaging the pump.
